A-Series work desks feature soft-radiused edges for a more user-friendly product. Work surfaces are 1-1/16" thick high pressure plastic laminate with radiused corners, edged with radiused T-moulding or 3mm edging. Facing and backing materials are of equal balance; the core material is 42 to 45 lb. per square foot density, grade R. CAN3-0188-1M78. Work surfaces are tested to Sec. 5.1.6. adhesive of C**/CGSB-44.227.96 per ASTM C-297 and approved. As well, they comply to ASTM 4060 regarding wearability and colour stability.
All tops, up to 36" wide, have one centre wire management grommet; 42" wide tops and over have wire grommets at each end of the desk top. Tops incorporate steel inserts for leg attachment. Corner desks come with one grommet, centre back corner.
The leg frames are of double wall welded construction: the outer wall is 18-gauge, the inner wall 16-gauge. Both outer and inner walls are suitably reinforced and parallel-flanged at the top, and welded for strength of connection. The connection to the desk top is by machine screws into steel inserts embedded in the top. Nylon-faced adjustable glides are fitted.
The leg frames are reversible, should furniture reconfiguration be required. All 14" cut-back leg assemblies feature an 8" x 2" slot for wiring pass-through. A steel channel between the inner and outer gables provides a smooth surface, preventing wire chafing. Cut-back leg assemblies are fitted when and where desk top corners are cut. This feature improves user movement when utilizing more than one work surface.
Back panels are 24" deep, made of 18-gauge formed furniture grade metal, and connected to the underside of the top and the leg frames to improve stability. Panels are double-flanged along the bottom edge for added strength and as a safety feature.
