4. Where do I find the key hole number?
Models ending in 000 and 005.

A three digit number is stamped in the metal area just above the key hole. A letter could preceed the numbers.

Models ending in 075.

The key hole is located in the battery compartment. Open the battery compartment and remove the battery tray. Locate the key hole on the right hand side of the comparment. A three digit number is stamped in the metal area to the right of the key hole. A letter could preceed the number.

5. How do I remove my file drawer?
To remove your drawer, locate the levers on the sides of the drawer. Pull one lever up, and push the other one down. Gently pull the drawer off of the drawer slides.

To replace the drawer, the slide portions on the inside of the safe must be pulled all the way out. Insert the tabs on the side of the drawer into the pulled out slides. Push the drawer all the way into the safe, so that the drawer is locked into place.

6. How do I change the batteries?
Please note: All batteries are found on the outside of the safe.

Locate the battery cover under the keyboard. Remove the cover by twisting a coin in the slot at the bottom of the cover. Locate and disconect the battery holder. Remove old batteries, and replace with 4 new AA batteries.

7. What are the keys for?
Models ending in 000:

You can access the safe using only the key when the dial is turned to number 88.

Models ending in 005:

The key on our electronic locking units is intended to be a secondary security feature. User your key to disable the electronic key pad for added security.

Models ending in 075:

Use the key hole in the battery compartment to access the contents of your safe

8. Do I need to do anything special for storage and maintenance?
Because your safe will release moisture to create an effective heat barrier should fire strike, articles susceptible to moisture damage require special care. Stamps, coins, photographs, etc. should be placed in a well sealed humidity resistant container, packet or heavy (boilproof) sealed plastic bag to prevent moisture damage.

9. What shouldn't I store in my safe?
Fire Fyter safes should not be used to store electronic media. This includes, but is not limited to, compact discs, magnetic tapes, computer discs, etc.

10. How do I change my combination?
Both the dial lock, and the digital electronic locking units can easily be changed to a combination of your choice. Click on the link to open the Adobe PDF (or right-click and download to your hard drive).

11. If my batteries die, will the combination be lost?
Your combination will not be lost if your batteries die. Your combination will remain stored in the lock's memory.

12. What happens if my safe door wiggles slightly when it is closed?
Our safes are designed to have a slight amount of "Wiggle" in the door. The wiggle is due to the clearance between the bolt bars and the bolt holes. A small amount of wiggle is acceptable. If your safe has large amount of clearance, call the factory at 1-800-377-7736. We will provide a tool to fix this problem.

13. When can I contact a customer service representative?
You can contact a customer service representative either by email at order@dansanna.com or by phone at 1-888-633-4234 (Toll-Free in Canada and the US).

14. How do I get into my safe after a fire?
Our fire resistant safes are guaranteed to safeguard your valuables when exposed to a 1700 degree fire for one full hour. The outside of your safe, however, could be damaged. If the locking portion of your safe is damaged, call our customer service department for entry instructions.

Please remember our After Fire Lifetime Guaruntee: If the exterior of you Fire Fyter safe should ever become damaged by fire, we will replace the safe for the original owner free of charge.

15. Why is there moisture in my safe?
The fire protective insulation in all fire resistive safes contains latent free moisture in crystal form which may cause a humid condition. Heat from a fire will cause the crystals to vaporize and provide an effective barrier against heat entry.

Sometimes the latent free moisture is noticeable as dampness in new equipment. We suggest allowing the safe door to remain open for several hours each day during the first week after purchase. Do not locate the safe in a damp area.

16. Where can I find operating instructions?
Click on the link to open the Adobe PDF (or right-click and download to your hard drive).

17. Why won't my dial and handle turn?
Open you safe and look on the back of your door. If there are 5 screws on the back of the door, remove the screw in the middle of the door and throw it away. You will now be able to turn your handle.
